Free Printable Royal Blue and Yellow Botanical Art
Okay, so I’m just basically stuffing my blog full of botanical art. I found so many beautiful prints on the Biodiversity Heritage Library website, and I’ve recently had surgery so I’m confined to my couch, so to pass time I’m color-correcting and creating groupings of these beautiful botanical illustrations. There’s more to come beyond this one.
I love design. It is definitely my passion. One aspect of design that I enjoy so much is the curating. I love pulling together things that I think complement each other. I’m sure there are some of you who can relate. Like going into a thrift store and pulling out treasures amidst all the junk, or creating a tablescape with mis-matched dishes, but when brought together they look like they were meant to be. That’s how I feel about these botanical printables. There are 100s of them, which means I have to dig through to try and find ones that I think complement each other. It’s like a game. My husband plays video games, I play search through hundreds of flower images! Hopefully, this fascination helps someone.
So, I did not find many blue floral images in this grouping of botanical illustrations, but I did find a few that I thought complemented each other. I have been cropping them, and sizing them to roughly 8″ x 10″ and 11″ x 14″ so they fit in a standard frame. I really hope that is helping people print them. I called our local copy center and they said they’d prefer to receive a powerpoint or pdf file to print images. They said pdf is preferable if there is text, but since we do not have text, I’ve saved these as powerpoint files so you can resize the images if you’d like. For 8″ x 10″ frames, I have set the slide size to 8.5″ x 11″ and sized the image to 8″ x 10″ so these can be printed on letter size paper. For 11″ x 14″ frames, I have set the slide size to 11″ x 17″ and sized the image to 11″ x 14″ so these can be printed on ledger size paper. I’ve tried to make these very easy to print, hopefully I have been successful.

The frames that I chose to go with these botanical prints are from Ikea, which is, in my opinion, the most economical place to find picture frames. The selection is low, but if you want black, silver, gray, or the wood style shown above, the price can’t be beat. An 8″ x 10″ Jallvik frame (pictured below) is $6.99 and the 11″ x 14″ frame is $12.99.
