Free Vintage Car Printables
I don’t plan for my posts to always include free printables, but I sometimes like to look through magazines and then see if I can find free art which is in the public domain on the web that would give a similar look. I don’t know why, but it’s fun for me. I’m not sure if anyone will ever get any use from this, but it’d be great if I could help out someone.
I’m in the process of planning my son’s train bedroom, so I’ve been looking at the Pottery Barn Kids and Restoration Hardware Baby and Child Catalogs. I love the vintage plane and train art in the Restoration Hardware catalog, which is linked to below.

I plan to try and find plane and train art like the art above, but first I looked for vintage car art. I did find some on the New York Public Library Digital Gallery (http://digitalgallery.nypl.org/nypldigital/index.cfm). I like that the pictures above are narrow, but generally, when you’re trying to do things on the cheap, irregular shaped frames are not. Buying custom frames are generally pricey. The original .jpg images for the Vintage Car Art pictured above were long and narrow, so I did some processing in Powerpoint to alter the images so they would fit in a standard 8×10 or 11×14 frame. This will help keep the cost of a gallery wall down.
I paired the vintage car art with frames from Wal-mart that cost $14.97 for a set of two (pictured below). You can probably find 8×10 frames cheaper if you look around. I’ve also included the images in 11×14 format, so you can make a larger gallery wall if you choose.

Below I’m including the .jpg images for the Vintage car art, if you scroll below these images, there are powerpoint files with the images. The 8×10 or 11×14 powerpoint files can be uploaded to the website of your local copy center, OfficeMax, Staples, Kinko’s, etc. They are formatted so they can be printed in standard letter size paper (8×10) or ledger size paper (11×14) in color. The cost of printing letter size paper in color is generally under $1.oo, and ledger size paper under $1.5o, so these can be printed for a very reasonable price. The images look somewhat fuzzy, but when I printed them on my ink jet printer, I was satisfied with the result. I thought it added to the vintage look, but you can be the judge.
